1. Start Your Vehicle
Make sure the vehicle is in park and your SYNC 4 system is fully powered on.
2. Turn on Bluetooth on Your Phone
On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
3. Open the SYNC 4 Bluetooth Menu
On your vehicle’s touchscreen, tap:

Then Add a Phone
Your vehicle will begin searching for nearby devices.
4. Pair Your Phone
When your phone sees the vehicle (usually shows up as “SYNC” or your vehicle name), tap it.
A pairing code will appear on both your phone and the SYNC screen. Confirm that the code matches and tap Pair on your phone.
5. Grant Permissions
Your phone may ask for permission to access contacts and messages. Tap Allow to make full use of features like voice-to-text and hands-free calling.
6. You’re Connected!
Your phone is now synced to SYNC 4. You can now:

Stream music

Use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (wired or wireless, depending on model)

I have a Samsung S24 with 318 contacts on it. This synced very well with my Ford Focus which had Sync 3 on it. I have just bought a new Focus which is fitted with the Sync 4 system. I successfully paired my phone using Bluetooth but then found several contacts were missing (including the most important of all) namely my wife!! Grateful for any help and advice … everything I have tried so far has not worked. Confirm the phone is fully up to date.

Sync 4 should pull your contacts just like Sync 3 did, but sometimes Samsung phones have extra security steps that block certain contacts from syncing. Here’s what I recommend:
1️⃣ Double-check Bluetooth permissions: On your S24, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth, tap the gear icon next to your car, and make sure ‘Contacts’ and ‘Messages’ access are both toggled on.
2️⃣ Try deleting & re-pairing: Sometimes the sync just needs a fresh handshake. Remove the car from your phone’s Bluetooth list and the phone from your car’s Bluetooth list, then pair them again from scratch.
3️⃣ Look for duplicates or hidden contacts: If your wife’s contact is stored under multiple accounts (like Google, Samsung Cloud, etc.), the car might grab the “wrong” list. Make sure the contact is saved in your main phone memory or Google Contacts — and visible.
4️⃣ Last resort: If none of that works, try exporting your contacts to a new Google account or a .vcf file, reimport, and re-sync. It’s tedious but can fix weird glitches.
If all else fails, pop by your Ford dealer — they can check if there’s a SYNC update or dig deeper.
